​I hold a BSc degree in Biology from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. I am currently a postgraduate student at the University of Crete, pursuing my MSc Program in “Molecular Biology – Biomedicine”. My Master Thesis focuses on the diagnosis of Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) point-mutation using point-of-care diagnostic methods. In Sub-Saharan Africa, SCD remains a major public health problem and most applicable diagnostic techniques are on demand. Therefore, my thesis’ goal is to demonstrate a one-step efficient DNA-based and affordable diagnostic test of SCD in sub-Saharan Africa.
